About

The Horizon Experience Project was created in order to provide the training, tools, and experience needed to be prepared for the future.

A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Specialization is for insects.

Robert A. Heinlein

In our modern lives, it’s easy to be disconnected from the basics of survival. The best heart surgeon may be unable to change a tire. The most successful lawyer might be unable to start a fire to save her life when trapped without power by a blizzard. A company founder who is fierce in the boardroom might be unprepared when threatened with physical violence on his way to his car.

While most of the time our lives are safe and easy, and we can call in an expert to fix things, or go to the doctor for medical treatment, the truth is that we should be prepared to take care of ourselves, our families and loved ones, and our communities.

Whether you want to be prepared for an extended power outage due to a storm, worried about massive civil unrest, or anything in between, the Horizon project is designed to provide the training and tools to handle whatever comes your way.

Even if you never need to use any of your emergency skills, just knowing that you have them provides deep confidence in your daily life. And having this training means that if something happens, you aren’t trapped helpless as a passive bystander, you CAN make a difference for good.
